What is Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN), and how is it different from seeing my doctor?
FDN uses functional lab testing, like DUTCH Plus, HTMA, and GI-MAP, to look at how your body's systems are functioning, rather than just checking whether markers fall in a wide standard range. It's meant to complement the care you get from your doctor, not replace it.
Do you diagnose or treat medical conditions?
No. As an FDN-P, Jenny does not diagnose, treat, or cure any disease. Verity Precision Health offers health coaching and educational support based on functional lab testing, working alongside, not instead of, your physician.
Is functional lab testing covered by insurance?
No. Functional lab testing (DUTCH Plus, HTMA, GI-MAP) is not covered by insurance providers. Pricing for testing and programs is listed on the Programs page.
What happens during my initial consultation?
Your first step is a 20-minute video consultation ($50), where we talk through your symptoms, health history, and goals, and figure out which option (a standalone lab test or a full coaching program) makes the most sense for you.
I don't live in Vancouver, can I still work with you?
Yes. All sessions are held over video call, so you can work with Verity Precision Health from anywhere. Lab kits are shipped directly to you with clear collection instructions.
What's the difference between the Hormone Program and the Gut Healing Program?
The Hormone Program includes DUTCH Plus, HTMA, and GI-MAP testing and is built for those focused on hormone-related symptoms. The Gut Healing Program includes GI-MAP and HTMA testing and is built for those focused on digestive and gut-related symptoms. Both include 12 weeks of 1:1 coaching. If you're not sure which fits, that's exactly what the consultation is for.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
No referral is required to book a consultation or order testing.
How much does it cost?
Consultations and standalone lab testing are priced individually. See the Programs page for current pricing. The Hormone and Gut Healing programs are priced based on your specific protocol and are discussed during your consultation.
